There are a couple ways you can maximize the value of your tires and keep them performing for you for a long time.

The first is by keeping the correct air pressure. Newer trucks may have tire pressure monitoring systems, but if your truck doesn’t offer this technology, regularly check your tire pressure with your own gauge, especially in colder weather. Remember: Your tires should not be underinflated or overinflated. Both can have damaging effects by wearing down faster or leading to an accident.

The second way to maintain your tires is to get regular tire rotations. Most experts agree that you should rotate your tires every 5,000 miles to maintain even wear. A good way to remember your tire rotation is to ask for one every time you get your oil changed.

Keep an eye on the treads of your tires. As they wear down, you will lose grip. If you notice that you are sliding on wet and icy surfaces more regularly than you used to, it is likely that your tires are balding and nearing the end of their lives. If that is happening now, visit Minnesota Truck Headquarters for a new set of tires.
